Welcome to the Blog

Microsoft releases first preview of PowerShell 7 and sets out ...

Welcome to the first entry on the Posh.Dev website. My name is Chris Burns and I am a senior consultant working in the Unified Communications space for a large and well known UC company based out of the UK.

The reason I created this blog initially was for a dumping ground for cool PowerShell scripts that I developed. But after meeting up with Azure MVPs, it became apparent that there is a requirement for someone to explain PowerShell and the best way to learn about PowerShell is to see examples which solve real-world problems.

I came across PowerShell in the very early days of Exchange 2007 but couldn't really spend the time to learn it, incidentally, I think Exchange's "And this is how you do it in PS" was a fantastic idea and I wish I embraced it. When building a 56 server "Skype for Business Server" environment, it was obvious that what I wanted to do could only be done with PowerShell and there began my mission to learn everything about it.

From PowerShell Remoting to PowerShell DSC, I plan on blogging on all aspects that I find cool with this scripting language.

As I write this, PowerShell 7 has just been released so I am in the process of learning something new too, so please excuse the bias towards PS7 and SfB/Teams based PowerShell. However, the concepts you will see can be applied to any product and generally the PS commands will run on any version down to PS4 (usually :-) )

Hope you get something useful from this blog and feel free to leave a message.
